As a startup they were launching for the first time and needed a brand identity that clearly expressed who they were, built credibility from day one, and could grow with the business.

The Client

Salami-Sub is a fast-food restaurant in Nakuru, Kenya. They have been in a pilot phase since early 2021 and want to take things a notch higher. Their targets market segment is the general population, however they put more emphasis on the youth who consume fast foods more. Other than that, Salami Sub will also have a Salami butchery, where they will be dealing more in Pork and pork products hence the name salami.

Our Approach

They aim to expand and create a strong presence not just in Nakuru but across major cities. To achieve this, Salami-Sub should be bold, distinct and easy to place, trace and interpret. To capture attention, vibrance will be a major factor especially since the main target is youths. Salami-Sub as a fast food serves finger licking inexpensive food and drinks. This makes it affordable and relatable for the common mwananchi. The foods are from local recipes but with a great modern touch, giving it a unique taste- hence the redefinition- street food redefined.

The idea behind this creation was bowls. Bowls are the basic utensils used for fast food service locally. Bowls are mainly associated with food. They are easy to use, clean, maintain; and they are inexpensive too. These are the defining qualities for Salami-Sub, making bowls the ideal representation. in addition to this, steam on the bowls gave us the opportunity to add SS initials for Salami-sub.
